About me
Virginia Iglesias is the Director of Earth Lab and a Research Scientist at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work integrates cutting-edge analytics with diverse data sources including field observations, surveys, satellite imagery, government records, and social media to advance human-centered, actionable science. Currently, she leads research projects focused on natural hazards and climate variability, aiming to understand their impacts on communities and to develop strategies that build resilience. Dr. Iglesias collaborates extensively with industry as well as tribal, federal, state, and local partners, and is deeply committed to outreach that connects research to real-world decision-making.
